TFS 2010 uses a tree table (called xxTree) to maintain the hierarchy of Area and Iteration.

The AreaID and IterationID in work item tables (WorkItemsAre, WorkItemsLatest, WorkItemWere) only represent the end node ID from the tree. If you happen to have the needs in changing those work item tables, you have to make sure the whole path of the tree route is what you need.
